Welcome to the official website of the Manresa School Alumni Association. The primary mission of this website is to communicate to Manresa graduates anywhere and everywhere what the Association is doing for them and the School.

HELPING OUT: The Alumni Board gave its contribution of food and toys to the School's Christmas outreach program on December 4, 2004. Pictured above for the presentation were MSAA Auditor ReiVi dela Cruz, MSAA Vice President - Internal Efren Jamandre III, Manresa School Outreach Asst. (DECEMBER 1, 2004) The Manresa Alumni Desk on Family Day 2004 was a tremendous success! Many recent alumni received their alumni cards. A lot of graduates updated their membership information. And not a few people went home clutching our T-Shirt.

The initial response to the Alumni's Manresa T-Shirt was exceptional. The Association was able to exceed its forecasted sales for the festivities. All revenue on our Family Day activity will go to the outreach activities of the Association.

The MSAA also provided the traffic signs for the Family Day affair.

The Alumni Board would like to thank everyone who gave their time and skill to the making our Family Day presence worthwhile. Special mention goes to alumni basketball team who showed the School what esprit de corps is all about. (see related article below).

(DECEMBER 1, 2004) The finals of the recently concluded basketball tournament during the Manresa School Family Day 2004 featured the Manresa Alumni Team and the Manresa Parents. Having gone through a short but tough elimination round, our team reached the finals with 2 wins and 1 loss.

There were 4 teams in this tournament. The Manresa School Varsity Team, the Faculty, the Parents and the Alumni. It was clear from the start that the Parents, what with their two six footers, one being a player from the commercial leagues, were the team to beat. They reached the finals with a clean slate.

Having lost our first game (a heartbreaking 52-55 loss to the Varsity Team), we regrouped and won the next 2 (beating the Faculty and, at last, the Varsity). The showdown was set, we had to find another way to beat the Parents.

Though averaging double than the Alumni's average age, the Parents were as fit as the Varsity kids. With their years of experience, they knew all the moves and living up to their team name - they indeed were ma-gulang (but in a sportsmanlike way). Our team, caught up in the pressures of college life (the alumni came from batches 2001, 02 and 03), were just sustained by their verve and vigor. The parents took the half, 30-26.

In the fourth quarter, with precision passes and booming three pointers, we suddenly found ourselves on top by 3. We were revived. Despite the body checks and hard defense of the 'oldies', we kept our cool. But even if we were winning on the court, the scorers had it differently. With 2 minutes left, the score was tied (and we thought we had a 2 point lead). 10 seconds remaining and the Parents leading by 3, the team planned for a 3-point shot to tie. But it never came. Final score 52-49.

Even if the team lost, the players kept their heads high. The players kept their cool. They were still winners: they were invited to play, they showed up, played their hearts out and deep inside, they knew that they were the champions. They knew that they were the only team, among the four, who were really products of the school they were in. This is the place that taught them class. Playing again in the gym that molded these players since they were little boys running around, they walked off the court with Pride. Proud to be real Manresans.

Kudos goes to Marvin Jimsy S. Tiu (2001), Raimen Gerard M. Rigor (2001), Carlo Pio M. Gantioqui (2001), Carlos Roberto H. Paez (2002), Daryll James I. Martinez (2002), Julius Arman A. Perez (2002), Rene Paolo G. Mabolo (2003) and Oliver Matthew E. Tiongco (2003)

(DECEMBER 1, 2004) Graduates have always known that the IHS with cross symbol is the symbol of the school. It was a recognizable symbol of that you are part of Manresa. The Arial lettering at the bottom changed through the years from the original single line "HIJAS DE JESUS" (pictured above) in the 1970s to the two lines "Hijas de Jesus," and "BF Homes, Parañaque City". The Times Roman font was used on the last seal to accomodate the two lines.

The evolution of the official seal continues today. Beginning this year, Manresa School will be using the greek cross with the letters IHS on the horizontal bar (pictured above left). An all caps "MANRESA SCHOOL" still appears on the top. The bottom words now are "Hijas De Jesus, Parañaque City" in title case type. Fonts to all words are now set to the Times Roman letter style.

This cross with the equal length arms is the symbol of the Hijas de Jesus congregation. You can see this emblem as the silver cross pendant worn by all Hijas de Jesus sisters.
